We begin cutting our lawns shorter in the early spring (no later than the first week of April) and work to maintain a minimum height of 3.5 to 4 inches on all of our lawns during the hot summer months to keep them looking green. In order to get your lawn ready for the winter and leaf cleanup, we'll trim the grass shorter one more in the late fall.

We may forgo the edging when it is extremely hot and dry to help prevent browning that happens adjacent to the hot pavement. Likewise, when it's muddy and damp, we'll skip.

Regular weekly maintenance is crucial because brown areas on your lawn might result from cutting too much off all at once (or too short during hot, dry months). It will be maintained once a week at the suggested height. We may cut it high to prevent it from browning in cases of excessive growth brought on by neglect or excessive rain, then trim it back to a manageable height the following week.
